Before proceeding with the setup instructions, make sure to install the Microsoft Authenticator application on your phone.
Step 1:
- Login into your FNU email on your computer.
Step 2:
- After logging into your FNU email, you will be prompted for more information. Click “Next.”
- Then you will continue clicking “Next” until you are asked to “Scan the QR code.”

Step 3:
- Before proceeding any further, go to the Microsoft Authenticator application on your phone and tap on “Add account”:
- Then tap on “Work or school account”:
- After tapping on the option “Work or school account” a pop-up message will appear. Tap on the “Scan QR code” option:
- After selecting the option “Scan QR code,” your camera will open:
- When your camera opens, aim your phone to the QR code that appears on your computer screen:
- If done successfully, you will see your FNU account on the Microsoft Authenticator application home screen:
Step 5:
- Go back to your computer and click on “Next” on the “Scan the QR code” section:
- You will see a two-digit number appear on your screen. At the same time, you will receive a notification from the Microsoft Authenticator application:
- Go to the Microsoft Authenticator application and the pop-up message “Are you trying to sign in?” will appear. Type the number that appears on your screen and tap “Yes”:
(WARNING: If you see the notification when you are not actively trying to login into your account, make sure to press “No, it’s not me”)
Step 6:
- If the number typed is correct, you will see on your computer screen “Notification approved.” Click “Next” and then click on “Done” to finish.
Congratulations, you have completed the Microsoft Authenticator setup.
